I completed a color analysis with Dana just over a month ago. I express how seriously I mean that this process CHANGED MY LIFE. I truly went from frumpy, self-conscious mom to getting up excited to get ready again.

She listened to my concerns, walked me through the process, encouraged me when I was outside of my comfort zone, and continues to follow-up to make sure I'm loving my colors.

I purchased a child's color consultation and makeup tutorial as a Christmas gift for my recently-turned, teenage daughter. Hi My name is Heather and I wanted to share how color and style analysis has changed my life, self esteem, perception and choices. As an artist and designer, I have a strong sense of color and temperature. I knew I was a warm palette. And I hated how I looked in black.
But it wasn’t until I went for my color analysis with my dear friend Dana of @hoc_franklincentral that I learned that I am an Autumn (Vibrant Blue Leaf ) 
My better than black is Dark Olive (a wow color for me-which you can see in the last slide).
Since my color consultation I’ve cleaned out all the colors not in my season, replaced all black and navy and white with the neutrals that suit my coloring. (Like Oyster, Marine Navy and Chocolate Brown). I get compliments all the time and I FEEL 10 years younger!! Having the best makeup from @houseofcolourusa is a game changer too!
And then in February I went in for a style analysis as well *cue phase two in closet clean-out.
I learned how my body architecture and my color personality work with my season to bring out the best in me and on me!
I discovered I’m a Natural Ingenue (NI) - which means I gravitate toward dainty prints, florals, comfortable, natural fibers and always feminine touches. Dana calls me a “woodland princess”. 
I now feel like my truest, best self. For the first time in my life I’m comfortable in my own skin- not trying to follow trends or wear clothes that other’s suggest. When I shop, I’m no longer intimidated- I know exactly what I need and what I’m looking for. I have tools ????️ for fashion now. And I believe it’s given me the courage to do things this year I never would’ve done before! ????

I’ve always wanted to have my colors done professionally. Online color matches aren’t reliable, and led me to think I’m an Autumn. I have a closet full of clothes that look gorgeous on the hangers but when I put them on, they wash me out or just don’t pop. Now I know why! I spent a couple hours with Dana and watched as the deep Summer palette literally CHANGED my face and lit me up. I’d been wearing mostly warm, bright colors, but the color analysis revealed that I look much better in cool, soft shades. This really surprised me and opened up so many color choices I’d never considered before. Dana made fantastic recommendations for hair color, jewelry, and accessories that will be a lot of fun to experiment with.

I’m a middle-aged lady, tall, sturdy, and shaped like a refrigerator box. Since turning 50, I’ve struggled to figure out how to dress myself in a way that flatters my new shape. A few events over the holidays had me feeling anxious because I didn’t have anything to wear and didn’t know where to start. I thought a change on the outside might help me adjust my attitude. I met with Dana for a color session, and to my surprise, left with a bunch of makeup, even though I never wear anything other than mascara and lip balm. There was no high-pressure sales pitch – I was just genuinely shocked at how different I looked wearing shades that complement my coloring. I absolutely love everything I purchased from House of Colour! Dana showed me how to apply each product and gave me lots of tips. I still only wear makeup occasionally, but when I do, I now know exactly what to use, have an array of color choices to change things up, and I feel confident knowing the shades suit me, work together, and look natural. The products have gorgeous pigment, are easy to use, and haven’t irritated my skin or caused any breakouts.

On my second session with Dana, she took my measurements, had me try on different styles, asked me questions about my personality and preferences, and gave me some excellent pointers for what kinds of styles to wear, neckline, waistline, length, cut, drape, fit. She even suggested stores where I might have some luck finding things I like in my size. That was enough to get me into a store. I HATE clothes shopping and usually do it online. But with some basic information, I easily found jeans that fit well and looked great. I knew exactly what to look for and what to avoid, and quickly picked out a couple of tops in colors, fabrics, shapes, lengths and styles that worked nicely for me. Shopping usually drains me, but in less than an hour, I’d picked up exactly what I needed for the events coming up AND I felt energized! Dana even sold me some jewelry I’d tried on and loved during our style session. She followed up with a thorough report filled with ideas to help me choose clothes going forward.

The color analysis and style sessions with Dana made a huge difference. I didn’t need anything fancy, complicated, or high fashion – I just wanted to feel comfortable and not look dowdy so I could have fun, be present, and get out of my head. All this great information solved the simple problem of not knowing how to dress myself. It was a dumb little thing causing me a lot of unnecessary anxiety. Feeling comfortable in my clothes and touched up with a bit of makeup shifts the focus from thinking about myself and my nerves to thinking about my friends and enjoying my time with them.
